Rafael holds a PhD in Business Administration from IESE 1985 and completed the Senior Business Management Programme at IESE in 2005. He is a co-founder and member of the Executive Committee of MADRID FORO EMPRESARIAL. On a professional level, he has spent his career at IDOM Consulting Engineering Architecture. He has over 38 years’ experience participating as an expert in different associations:

• Founder and chairman of the Iberian Logistics and Ports Association, AILOP 2016.
• Organiser and chair of several seminars and forums held by the Iberian Logistics and Ports Association.
• Founder and Member of the Executive Committee of MADRID FORO EMPRESARIAL 2014.
• Member of the Managing Board of CEIM. 2007-2014.
• Patron and vice-chairman of INFODAL, Foundation for Local Training and Development.
• Member of the Managing Board of the Official Spain – Equatorial Guinea Chamber of Commerce 2008 and 2013.
• Association of Engineering, Environment, Architecture and Technological Services Companies of the Region of Madrid (ASICMA).

Chairman 2004-2007

Vice-chairman 2000 – 2003.

• Design, Strategy and Establishment of the International Department.
• Design and Establishment of the International Engineering and Consultancy Tender Process Information System.
• Organisation of the 1^st Madrid-USA infrastructure forum with seminars and conferences in 2008-09.
• Consolidation of the merger of Engineering Associations in the Region of Madrid.
• Member of the Managing Board of the Official Spain-Portugal Chamber of Commerce from 2000 to 2019 and of its Executive Committee from 2000 to 2015.

His experience in the OIL & GAS sector is worth noting

• Research work for EMPETROL, now part of the REPSOL Group, in the FCC (Fluid Catalytic Cracking) process between 1979 and 1983, developing solutions for the problem of the flow of solids and solid-gas mixtures in standpipes.
• Co-organisation of the first FCC Technology Congress in Spain at Universidad de Zaragoza in collaboration with EMPETROL and the other Spanish refineries.
• Design of a Software Programme for the “Design of Gas Networks in Cities” applicable to the Domestic, Commercial and Industrial sectors, marketed under the name GAS-SARE.
• Design of a Software Programme for the “Calculation of the Economic Viability of the Gasification of Cities” and “Economic Optimisation of the Advance of Natural Gas Network Construction in Cities” marketed under the name GAS-MKT.
• Consultancy work for the Organisation of the Natural Gas Sector in the Cities and Territories of the Basque Country in Spain. Definition of the Technical and Organisational Structure of the different companies in these territories.
• Consultancy work for the introduction of Natural Gas in Bilbao. Market Studies, Network Design and Optimisation of the Advance and Execution of the Natural Gas Network.
• Advisory and Consultancy work on Market Studies, Network Design Execution of the Natural Gas Networks and/or Satellite Plants in more than 50 towns in Spain and Portugal. Working and/or directing work for clients in the sector.
